Welcome to Joe Abbate's Cycle Therapy Vintage Motorcycle Restoration

Race Restoration:

This is for the racer who wants to have a bike that appears almost new, and with basic maintenance, will be a reliable race bike for several seasons. Your motorcycle should be running (even poorly) before this process begins. If it is not, there will be a minimum shop time fee of $40.00. The purpose of this is to be sure that your motorcycle shifts properly when it is running, as this level of restoration does not include splitting your cases. If you are certain the bike will not run without something major being replaced, and have decided to go forward with the work, no fee will be charged. If we agree that the problem is in the bottom end of the engine, crank, crank bearings, rod pins etc. a price to replace any of those items will be determined in advance.

The following services will then be performed:

  • Every nut, bolt, screw and washer are removed from the bike and replaced with new hardware.
  • The frame, swing arm, pegs etc are sandblasted and powder coated
  • The cylinder, head, clutch cover, ignition cover are bead blasted, primed and painted
  • Chain is replaced
  • Carburetor is cleaned (parts replaced when needed)
  • Cables and grips are replaced (clutch, throttle and F/brake)
  • Pipe is bead blasted and painted or bead blasted left with a natural finish
  • New tires and tubes are installed
  • Both fenders and side panels are replaced with exact reproduction items (when available)
  • Gas tank is stripped, primed and painted. Plastic tanks will receive new perforated graphics
  • Cylinder is deglazed, new piston, rings and gaskets are installed (boring, new sleeve or re-plating is additional)
  • Forks are completely disassembled, flushed and new seals are installed
  • New Works Performance steel bodied shocks are installed (Other choices are available)
  • New side number plate and front plate back rounds are installed

The motorcycle is then reassembled with the parts properly lubricated, all fresh fluids, all nuts, screws etc are installed with Loc-tite or in many cases, nylock nuts are used. The bike is then “run-in” jetted properly and ready to race.

including a good time to call you on the telephone to discuss this further.

$2395.00 plus parts

To make this service more “cost effective” some items may be deleted if they have recently been replaced.
